Terms of service
Last updated 29.09.2026
These terms govern the use of the NetRent platform at app.netrent.is and our website netrent.is. They are provided by NetRent ehf. (kt. 510626-1330), 108 Reykjavík, Iceland ("NetRent", "we", "us").
1. How these terms fit with your agreement
NetRent is sold to businesses. Each rental company that uses NetRent signs a service agreement or order form with us (the "Agreement"). These terms apply to every customer and user. If the Agreement says something different from these terms, the Agreement wins.
By signing the Agreement, or by signing in to NetRent, you accept these terms. If you accept them on behalf of a company, you confirm that you are authorized to bind that company.
2. Definitions
Customer: the rental company that has an Agreement with NetRent.
User: a person the Customer has given access to NetRent, such as an employee.
Service: the NetRent platform, its features and any related support we provide.
Customer Data: all data the Customer or its Users enter into the Service, including data about the Customer's renters.
3. Accounts and access
Access to NetRent is by invitation only. The Customer decides who gets access and with which role, and is responsible for everything done under its Users' accounts. Users must keep their sign-in details to themselves and tell the Customer or us right away if they suspect someone else has used their account.
Users can sign in with email and password, Google or Microsoft. Signing in through Google or Microsoft is also subject to that provider's terms.
4. Acceptable use
You may not:
try to access another customer's data, or any part of the Service you have not been given access to
probe, scan or test the Service for vulnerabilities without our written permission
disrupt or overload the Service, or use automated tools to pull data from it beyond what our APIs allow
copy, resell, or reverse engineer the Service, or use it to build a competing product
use the Service to store or send unlawful content, or to process personal data without a lawful basis
We may suspend access that breaks these rules. We will tell the Customer why, and restore access once the problem is fixed.
5. Customer Data
The Customer owns its Customer Data. The Customer gives us the right to host, process and display it only to provide, secure and support the Service for that Customer.
For personal data in Customer Data, the Customer is the controller and NetRent is the processor. Our Data Processing Agreement with the Customer sets out how we handle it. The Customer is responsible for having a lawful basis to collect its renters' data and for the accuracy of what it enters.
We may use aggregated, anonymized statistics about how the Service is used, for example to improve pricing models and performance, provided they cannot identify the Customer, its Users or its renters.
6. Pricing recommendations and integrations
NetRent can suggest prices based on fleet, booking and market data. These are recommendations. The Customer decides which prices to use and remains responsible for its own business decisions, prices and compliance with consumer law.
The Service can connect to third-party services the Customer chooses, such as bookkeeping systems and payment providers. Those services are governed by the Customer's own agreement with each provider. We are not responsible for how they operate, but we will make reasonable efforts to keep our integrations with them working.
7. Fees and payment
Fees, billing period and payment terms are set out in the Agreement. Unless the Agreement says otherwise, we invoice in Icelandic krónur, invoices are due within 14 days, and late payments carry interest under the Icelandic Act on Interest and Price Indexation no. 38/2001. If an invoice is more than 30 days overdue, we may suspend the Service after giving written notice.
8. Availability and support
We work to keep the Service available and running well, and we monitor it around the clock for errors. We sometimes need planned maintenance, and we schedule it outside peak hours where we can and give notice in advance. Specific uptime commitments or support response times apply only if they are in the Agreement.
9. Intellectual property
NetRent owns the Service, its software, design and documentation. The Customer gets a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service during the Agreement for its own business. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them freely to improve the Service.
10. Confidentiality
Each party keeps the other's confidential information private and uses it only to perform the Agreement. This does not apply to information that is public, was already known to the receiving party, or must be disclosed by law.
11. Term and termination
The Agreement sets the term and notice period. Either party may end the Agreement right away by written notice if the other party materially breaches it and does not fix the breach within 30 days of being told.
When the Agreement ends, the Customer can export its Customer Data for 30 days. After that we delete it within 90 days, except where we are required by law to keep it.
12. Warranties
We provide the Service with reasonable skill and care. Apart from that and anything stated in the Agreement, the Service is provided "as is", and we do not promise it will be free of errors or that its pricing recommendations will produce a particular result.
13. Limitation of liability
Neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profit, lost revenue or lost bookings. Each party's total liability under the Agreement in any 12-month period is limited to the fees the Customer paid NetRent in the 12 months before the claim arose.
These limits do not apply to liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct, to breaches of confidentiality or data protection obligations where the law does not allow a limit, or to the Customer's obligation to pay fees.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes we will notify Customers by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date means the Customer accepts the updated terms. Changes never override a signed Agreement.
15. Governing law
These terms and the Agreement are governed by Icelandic law. Disputes go to the District Court of Reykjavík (Héraðsdómur Reykjavíkur), though we would always prefer to sort things out by talking first.
